Father’s Day Weekend

After my health issue on Friday, I decided to take it easy over the weekend.  The Huz had to work both Saturday and Sunday leaving me to fly solo with the kids, as usual.  This is the price we pay because he works as a retail manager.

Saturday morning we all slept in until 9:30.  It was the best night of sleep I’ve had in awhile.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  I really enjoyed the rest and relaxation until the afternoon fun began.

My middle son was invited to his classmate’s birthday party and the G-Man and I were able to attend with him.  The party theme was outdoor water games and the kids had so much fun on the slip ‘n slide, as well as a water balloon fight, ring toss and obstacle course made from pool noodles and really fun bucket game.  I had a great time taking pictures of all the fun.

After an afternoon of sun and water fun, we were all exhausted when we got home. My oldest had stayed home to play a video game on the Xbox with his friend.  I was surprised to see he did some of the dishes while we were gone, too.

Once the Huz got home we decided to have Subway for dinner and it really was delicious.  Plus, not having to fire up the oven was awesome, especially on a hot day.

Sunday morning we had good intentions of going to church, but it’s always so difficult for me to manage all three kids by myself when the Huz is at work.  We skipped Mass and I feel guilty about it.  I have to find ways to do this alone.  Skipping church is never a good thing.

That afternoon I had the brilliant idea to go strawberry picking at Cee Dee Acres.  We picked two flats.  The oldest and I managed to do most of the picking. Middle child whined and jabbered more than he picked.  It was getting very frustrating for me.  I finally put him in charge of watching the littlest while we finished getting the berries.

After that we all went swimming at the YMCA.  It was a nice time.  My oldest brought his friend along.  I spent my time in the pool playing with the younger two kids.  They had a lot of fun.

The Huz was home when we got back and we grilled steaks for Father’s Day.  They were delicious.  I’m so glad we had a relaxing weekend.  It was sure difficult to get out of bed the next morning to go to work!
